State Representative Daniel A. Perez is a distinguished Republican legislator representing Florida House District 116. Born in New York City, New York, Mr. Perez and his family relocated to Florida in 1993, where they settled in the vibrant and culturally rich suburb of Westchester in Miami-Dade County. Today, he proudly serves the very community that shaped his early years and instilled in him the values of hard work, optimism, and public service.

Early Life and Education

As a first-generation Cuban-American, Mr. Perez learned the importance of perseverance and leadership from a young age. His commitment to public service was evident early on when he was elected Senior Class President at Christopher Columbus High School in 2005. His leadership abilities continued to flourish as he pursued higher education, earning his Bachelor’s Degree from Florida State University. He later obtained his Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, further equipping him with the legal knowledge necessary to serve his community.

Legal and Political Career

Perez’s dedication to serving his fellow Floridians led him to a successful legal career. He previously worked at a prestigious litigation law firm handling all types of business and commercial litigation. Perez has brought those litigation and counseling skills to our law firm. In addition, he currently serves as general counsel for Doctors Health Care Plans, Inc. His legal background has provided him with a strong foundation for his role as a legislator, where he applies his expertise to a wide range of issues affecting his constituents.

In 2017, Mr. Perez’s passion for public service culminated in his election to the Florida House of Representatives, where he filled a vacated seat following a grassroots campaign that emphasized accountability, lower taxes, reduced government intervention, and the protection of community values. His state legislative efforts have been instrumental in advancing key issues such as child welfare, healthcare, family stability, education, and most recently, election integrity.

Leadership in the Florida House of Representatives

Perez’s commitment and leadership have been recognized by his peers, leading to his appointment as Chair of the Judiciary Committee in the Florida House of Representatives. He has also served on several other key committees, including as Chair of the Pandemic & Public Emergencies Committee and Chair of the Public Integrity & Elections Committee.
